Andromeda

This collar is based on the myth of the sacrifice of Andromeda, told through constellations. Andromeda's mother, Cassiopeia, boasted that she was more glorious than any water goddess. This angered Poseidon, so he sent the sea monster, Cetus, after Cassiopeia. Her husband, Cepheus, went to the Gods begging to save his wife. He was told the only way to save her was to sacrifice his daughter. He chained her to the rocks for the monster, but Perseus swooped in and saved her before it was too late. From left to right are the constellations of Cassiopeia, Cetus, Andromeda, Perseus, and Cepheus made from fine silver granules.
